Spotlight on Creativity
December 2007
December's spotlight on creativity is a local young professional, Kristie Gonzales. While studying painting and journalism at the University of New Mexico, Kristie began working at the local PBS and instantly fell in love with creating television. She graduated suma cum laude in 2003 with a Bachelors of Arts in Fine Arts. Within eight months after graduation, Kristie became the Chief Editor at the ABC affiliate in Albuquerque, NM, and was responsible for coordinating all the video in the newscasts, plus editing special reports and investigations.
Kristie then made the move to the Philadelphia area, where she currently works for 6abc in the Creative Services Department. She writes, edits and produces spots for 6abc; from news teases for investigative reports to promoting special 6abc events. Kristie's day-to-day challenge is to break through "news clutter" and promote news stories in a way that will lure viewers to tune into the newscast.

6ABC WPVI-TV

Favorite Philadelphia neighborhood:
Italian Market. Where else can you stock up on a week's worth of groceries for only $10? It has the best breakfast in town, the best coffee, the best cheese and the best Mexican food. It's my favorite place to bum around on a weekend morning.
Best advice you've ever been given:
"Let the wise listen and add to their learning."
Your favorite thing about living in the Philadelphia Region:
There's an endless amount of fun in Philly. I love the food scene here. I love that I can try something new every weekend and head over to New York or D.C. if I get bored. During the summer, I take advantage of the shore and the great shopping in Atlantic City.
Your favorite thing about working in the Philadelphia Region:
I work with incredibly talented people who inspire me to grow. The quality of work in this market is exceptional, and there’s nothing like a bit of healthy competition to make you better at what you do.
Why own a business/work in Philadelphia?
Philly is brimming with young, intelligent professionals. It's vibrant and fun, and there's a special charm here you won’t find anywhere else.
