Spotlight on Creativity
December 2007
December's Spotlight on Creativity is local entrepreneur Dave Girgenti. It was tragedies such as September 11 and Hurricane Katrina that inspired Dave to create Wish Upon A Hero, an online community that offers a platform for people to help other people. Wish Upon A Hero is a fast, easy way to help out people in need, and there is "no wish too large and no hero too small."
Dave also serves as Creative Director/Partner for CramerSweeney, the fastest growing full service marketing communications company in Southern New Jersey. He oversees the creative process for all the company's creative services - from advertising and branding to printed collateral and website design. He has worked with some of the world's biggest brand names including Coca-Cola, Intel and Disney. In addition, Girgenti was recently named a 2007 Forty Under 40 recipient from NJBIZ.

Best advice you've ever been given:
"Keep your house in order." By my grandmother, Susan Menasce. House in this instance refers to ones mind.
Your favorite thing about living in the Philadelphia Region:
Philadelphia is second to none. There is no other area where you can visit one of the most important places in US history then only be an hour away from sitting on a beach or vacationing in the mountains.
Your favorite thing about working in the Philadelphia Region:
The people. Business people in Philadelphia are smart and fast. They don't sugar coat anything. If it's good then it's good. It stinks...well, they'll let you know.
Why own a business/work in Philadelphia?
This is a great city for building a business. Philadelphia has experts in every service area. From search engine optimization to marketing experts to public relations specialists and branding firms - if you need, we have it.
Wish Upon A Hero is free to all users, allowing all registered users to cast up to three wishes at a time. The site is designed to help anyone and everyone in need, with no wish being too small or too big. From a man buying uniforms for a town's little league game to a plastic surgeon helping an uninsured breast cancer survivor, Wish Upon A Hero is there to connect people in need with people who are willing to help.
Once a wish is granted, the hero can choose to remain anonymous, or be formally recognized on the Wish Upon A Hero website. To date, 5,631 wishes have been placed and 1,669 wishes have been granted.
