Best advice you’ve ever been given:
Us the first good word that comes to your mind. – Stephen King

Your favorite thing about living in the Philadelphia Region:
The history, the diversity and the raw nature of the people. Philadelphians let everything hang out. Go to LA or NY and it’s just not the same.
Your favorite thing about working in the Philadelphia Region:
There is a lot of access to corporations large and small in the area. New York, NJ, Delaware, and DC, all in a day’s trip.

How would you market the Philadelphia Region to professionals outside the region?
Philadelphia is an up-and-coming city, it’s the reason we brought Brolik here in 2006. The film business is improving and the people believe in a revival.

What advice would you give to young professionals trying to break into your industry?
Be ready to give up the next 5 years of your life (and then some). You need to love what you do or you won’t succeed. If you do love it, it won’t feel like work at all. Also, be aggressive. Don’t wait for someone to notice you and don’t let anyone’s opinion slow you down.

How has the entrepreneurial community in Philadelphia evolved in the past ten years?
I’m just realizing the abundance of great young minds in Philadelphia. I haven’t been around here for ten years so I’m not the best person to ask, but just seeing the kinds of people that came out for Spark! Networking and the Philadelphia Film Market this month is amazing. There is so much passion and innovation in the Philadelphia entrepreneur community, we just need to continue to help it grow and flourish.

How has the film industry impacted your company?
The film industry has weathered us. There’s nothing more mentally and physically challenging than an intense film shoot and that has helped us get through tough days in the office. It has also made us question our strengths and strategies. What works in the corporate world is not always true in entertainment. A great project fails to captivate an audience and sometimes there’s no apparent reason. The entertainment industry is fickle and hard to predict but that’s what makes it exciting. One thing I do know is that great content and a strong (and well-positioned) brand works no matter what industry we’re in.

Do you think film is important to Philadelphia’s creative arts network? Why or why not?
Without a doubt, the film industry should be more intertwined with the music and entrepreneurial network of Philadelphia. If our businesses were able to rally and support our arts, we could really start making a name for entertainment in Philadelphia. We are one step away.

Brolik is an innovative branding and interactive agency. We create memorable brands for our clients, while empowering them with creative strategy, marketing solutions and current technology to streamline business efforts, often including web and mobile application development. We are committed to keeping abreast of the newest trends in technology to offer customized solutions for our clients and their clients as well.
