Innovation Matters: November 19, 2008 | Volume 2 | Issue 4

The Insider: Register Today for Running on Empty: Make a Little Go a Long Way

BusinessWeek recently named Philadelphia as one of the U.S. cities best prepared to weather the recession, citing its strength in health care, education and more. Business Facilities Magazine named Philadelphia as one of its editors' location picks of 2008, touting the Region as an economic development hot spot.

Still, small businesses face unique challenges and every dollar has to count. Should you cut marketing costs, or increase it to be more visible than your competition? Should you downsize staff and outsource more services, or hire very innovative employees? What are the best ways to make your resources go a long way during challenging economic times?

If these are the questions on your mind for your business, please join Innovation Philadelphia for Running on Empty: Make a Little Go a Long Way, a panel discussion and networking reception on December 17, 2008, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m, at the PNC Center (1600 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA) in the Center Hall.

Innovation Philadelphia Participates in Youth Initiative Summit

Harrisburg

On November 19, 2008, Innovation Philadelphia participated in the Youth Initiative Summit hosted by Senator Robert Wonderling in Harrisburg, PA. Innovation Philadelphia recognizes young professionals fuel the economy, are vital in growing technology and knowledge-based businesses, and are an essential source of ingenuity and new-idea generation.

The Summit, which focused on three major principles: education, entrepreneurship, and empowerment, convened government and non-governmental organization representatives and lawmakers to discuss how the Administration can make Pennsylvania a premier state in which young people can live and be heard. The information discussed will aid the Administration in drafting future legislation and policies to make Pennsylvania a leader amongst states in which young adults can successfully live, work and start a business.
