The Insider: MiND: Media Independence, A Movement to
Re-Invent TV

MiND: Media Independence is re-inventing the way TV and Internet production works. MiND's innovative way of reaching audiences through Internet TV is the newest initiative of Independence Media, the non-profit organization owned and operated by WYBE Channel 35 in Philadelphia.

MiND is a multi-platform TV and Internet service emphasizing learning, social awareness and a hands-on approach to media and production. With a launch as a television channel and an internet channel in March 2008, MiND TV will reach 2.7 million homes and 6 million viewers in the 11-county Philadelphia Region. MiND online will reach 70 million English speaking broadband Internet users worldwide.

Members create five-minute-long programs, which are designed to educate the community. MiND says that the community and the programs that their members submit set the agenda. Topics are limitless: from law to cooking to gardening techniques, and so much more.
